10/8/2019 0 Comments Welcome Fall The summer has been lovely. The goats and sheep have had abundant grass and browse. Our dairy ladies' milk production has been on point and I have been able to make extra cheese and freeze the surplus for our family to enjoy during their dry time. The five spring lambs are growing well on this pasture and are slated for harvest this winter. Based on their weights we will adjust our management and perhaps add grain to their diets, although we do prefer grass-fed meats. We added to our sheep this summer as well with a pair of Finn sheep to start a small spinner's flock! Clover is our ewe lamb and she's an absolute peach! We are also training her to the milk stand in the hopes of having a little sheep milk. And her mate, Thunder. He's a rather gentle cottonball. The pastures are certainly slowing down but the ruminants are all trotting back to the barn each evening with round, full bellies and are very pleased with the cooler weather and fewer bugs.
